Tour Overview

Our Naran, Shogran and Hunza honeymoon tour is an 11-day private trip that gives the Kaghan Valley as much time as Hunza. Five of the ten nights are in Naran, Batakundi and Shogran, and the trip starts and ends gently, with a night in Balakot on the way up and a night in Islamabad on the way back.

From Lahore, or from Islamabad or Rawalpindi if you prefer, your driver takes you to Balakot for the first night. The next day you reach Naran and go up to Lake Saif-ul-Malook by jeep, and on day three a jeep climbs to the Lalazar meadows before you settle in Batakundi, above Naran.

Hunza sits in the middle of the trip. You cross Babusar Top to Gilgit and Nagar, then spend a day at Karimabad, Altit Fort and Attabad Lake and a day on the road to the Khunjerab Pass. Coming back, you stop a night in Naran and then have two nights in Shogran, a forested ridge much quieter than Naran, with a jeep up to the Siri Paye meadows.

The price is PKR 150,000 per person, PKR 300,000 for the couple. It covers the car and driver for all 11 days, ten nights in A-category hotels, the jeeps to Saif-ul-Malook and Siri Paye, and tolls.

Day by day

Naran, Shogran and Hunza honeymoon tour itinerary

Times are a guide and can shift with the road and the weather.

Day 1

Lahore to Balakot

We pick you up in Lahore and drive up the M-2 to Islamabad, where couples from Islamabad, Rawalpindi or a Karachi flight can join instead. The Hazara Motorway takes us through the Abbottabad tunnels and on to Balakot, at the foot of the Kaghan Valley, by the evening. Dinner and night in Balakot.

Day 2

Naran and Lake Saif-ul-Malook

A short morning drive up the Kunhar River brings you to Naran. Check in, rest for an hour or two, then take a local jeep up to Lake Saif-ul-Malook, about half an hour from town. Back in Naran, have dinner at the hotel or in the bazaar and walk through the market in the evening. Night in Naran.

Day 3

Lalazar, then Batakundi

After breakfast you switch to a jeep for the track up to Lalazar, an open meadow high above the Kunhar. Take the morning there for photos and a walk on the grass, then the jeep brings you down to Batakundi, a quieter spot just up the valley from Naran. Dinner and night in Batakundi.

Day 4

Batakundi to Nagar over Babusar Top

After breakfast we drive on past Lulusar Lake to Babusar Top (4,173 m), then down to Chilas and the Karakoram Highway. There are stops at the meeting point of the three mountain ranges and the Nanga Parbat viewpoint, and a short one in Gilgit city, before we reach Nagar, near Rakaposhi. Dinner and night in Nagar after a long day.

Day 5

Hunza: Altit Fort and Attabad Lake

After breakfast we go up to Karimabad to see Altit Fort, around 1,000 years old, and the bazaar. Then the Karakoram Highway takes us through the Pakistan China Friendship Tunnels to Attabad Lake, where you can take a boat out. We drive back to Nagar for dinner and the night.

Day 6

To the Khunjerab Pass

A day on the road north. We stop at the Passu Cones, the Batura Glacier and the Hussaini suspension bridge, then go through Sost to the Khunjerab Pass, 4,693 m up on the Chinese border. It is cold at the top, so bring a jacket. Back to Nagar for dinner and the night.

Day 7

Back to the Kaghan Valley

An early start after breakfast for the long drive down the Karakoram Highway and back over Babusar Top. You check in at the hotel in Naran or Kaghan in the evening. Dinner and night there.

Day 8

Shogran

After breakfast we drive down to Kiwai and climb the hairpin road to Shogran, arriving at about 12 pm. After check-in and a rest, walk in the pine forest around the Governor House. In the evening have dinner and stroll through the small bazaar. Night in Shogran.

Day 9

Siri Paye

After breakfast a jeep takes you about an hour up from Shogran to Siri Paye, two open meadows with a small lake and, on a clear day, Makra Peak and Malika Parbat behind them. You come back down to Shogran in the afternoon for a second night.

Day 10

Shogran to Islamabad

After breakfast we leave the valley, stop for a break by the Kunhar River at Balakot and reach Islamabad or Rawalpindi in about five hours. Night in Islamabad or Rawalpindi.

Day 11

Islamabad to Lahore

After breakfast the driver takes you home to Lahore on the M-2, about four and a half hours. Couples flying back to Karachi or elsewhere can be dropped in Islamabad instead.

It was an amazing tour with Pakistan Travel Diaries. 5 Days Hunza tour was like a dream, I can not believe how the time flew over there, these 5 days were the best days. Every thing was properly managed, time, food, accommodation, traveling. The CEO Abuzar is not less than a Super Hero, the way he managed every thing was so smooth. He is like Jinny, call his name and he is in front of you asking "what can I do for you". It was a memorable tour. β£οΈπŸ˜‡

Frequently Asked Questions

Where and when does the Naran, Shogran and Hunza Honeymoon Tour leave?

Pickup is from your home in Lahore, or Islamabad / Rawalpindi.

Is this a private tour?

Yes. You have your own car and driver for the whole trip, and the hotel room is for the two of you. No other guests join.

How much does this tour cost for a couple?

PKR 150,000 per person, or PKR 300,000 for a couple. That covers the car and driver for 11 days, ten hotel nights, the jeeps to Saif-ul-Malook and Siri Paye, and tolls.

Can we join in Islamabad if we fly from Karachi?

Yes. Fly into Islamabad and the driver meets you there on the first day. On the last day he can drop you in Islamabad for your flight instead of driving on to Lahore. Private tours can start from any city in Pakistan: tell us where you are when you book and we will plan the pickup from there.

What is not included?

Meals, the Lalazar jeep, the Attabad Lake boat ride, and the Khunjerab and Altit Fort tickets. You pay for those as you go.

Show 6 more questions
Why stay in Shogran instead of Naran at the end?

Shogran is smaller and calmer, at about 2,360 m on a forested ridge above Kiwai. Naran is the busy base for the lakes and Babusar Top, so we keep the sightseeing nights there and save Shogran for the end of the trip.

Which hotels will we stay in?

We book A-category hotels based on availability for your dates and confirm the names a few days before you travel.

What is the cancellation policy?

A 30% advance confirms your booking. Cancel more than 7 days before departure and we refund 75% of what you paid; 5 to 7 days before, we refund 50%. Cancellations in the last 4 days, and no-shows, are not refunded.

Why does the Naran, Shogran and Hunza Honeymoon Tour spend more time in the Kaghan Valley?

A typical Naran honeymoon gives you two nights in Naran and then heads home. On this tour you see the valley over several days: Saif-ul-Malook on the first afternoon, Lalazar the next morning, Lulusar Lake and Babusar Top on the way north, and two full nights at the end in Shogran, where the hotels sit along the ridge with views across the valley.

When is the best time to go on the Naran, Shogran and Hunza Honeymoon Tour?

This route crosses Babusar Top twice, so we run it while the pass is open, usually from mid-June to late September. Before mid-June there can still be snow on the road, and from October the Naran hotels start to close. June and September are quieter than July and August, when the Kaghan Valley is at its busiest. When Babusar is shut, Hunza can still be reached on the Karakoram Highway through Besham. That is a longer drive and a different trip, so ask us for a separate quote.

Is there a shorter, longer or different option than the Naran, Shogran and Hunza Honeymoon Tour?

If Hunza and Gilgit are the main reason for your trip, look at our Hunza Gilgit honeymoon package, also 11 days, which is planned around the Gilgit-Baltistan side of the route. Short on time? The 9-day Naran Hunza honeymoon package drops the Balakot and Islamabad nights and one of the Shogran nights.
