Tour Overview

Our Hunza luxury tour, 6 days and 5 nights from Lahore, is the longer of our two Hunza luxury group tours and gives you the most time in the valley. It is a group trip by road in a Toyota Coaster, with a higher hotel category than our standard 6-day tour.

We leave Lahore at 11 pm, pick up Islamabad guests around 3 am and reach Naran the next morning. After some rest there is an optional jeep ride to Lake Saif-ul-Malook. On day two we cross Babusar Top, stop at the Nanga Parbat viewpoint and the point where the Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush meet, pass through Gilgit and check in to a hotel in Nagar, near the Rakaposhi viewpoint.

Nagar is the base for three nights. Day three is for Karimabad: Altit Fort, the bazaar below Baltit Fort, the Pak-China friendship tunnels and a boat on Attabad Lake, the lake that formed when a landslide blocked the Hunza River in 2010. Day four goes up the Karakoram Highway past the Passu Cones, Batura Glacier and the Hussaini suspension bridge to Sost and the Khunjerab Pass (4,693 m) on the Chinese border.

On the way home we spend a night in Naran or Kaghan, so the drive back is split into two days. Five nights in hotels, breakfast and dinner, one BBQ night, the Khunjerab ticket, tolls and a tour guide are included. Rooms are shared by 3 to 4 people.

Day by day

Hunza luxury tour 6 days itinerary

Times are a guide and can shift with the road and the weather.

Day 1

Lahore to Naran and Lake Saif-ul-Malook

We leave Lahore at 11 pm from Thokar Niaz Baig or Barkat Market, with a short stop at Bhera on the motorway. Islamabad guests join around 3 am. After a stop at the Mansehra viewpoint we have breakfast in Balakot or Kiwai and follow the Kunhar River up to Naran. You get about three hours to rest at the hotel, then there is an optional jeep ride up to Lake Saif-ul-Malook. Dinner is at the hotel, and the evening is free for a walk through Naran Bazaar.

Day 2

Naran to Gilgit and Nagar over Babusar Top

After breakfast we leave Naran, stop at Lulusar Lake and climb to Babusar Top (4,173 m). From Chilas we join the Karakoram Highway along the Indus, with stops at the Nanga Parbat viewpoint and the junction point of the Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush ranges. We drive through Gilgit city and on to Nagar, where we check in near the Rakaposhi viewpoint. Dinner and the night are at the hotel.

Day 3

Karimabad, Altit Fort and Attabad Lake

After breakfast we drive to Karimabad, the main town of Hunza. We visit Altit Fort and walk through Karimabad bazaar, below Baltit Fort. We then go up the highway through the Pak-China friendship tunnels to Attabad Lake, where there is time for a boat ride. In the evening we drive back to the hotel in Nagar for dinner and the night.

Day 4

Passu, Hussaini Bridge and the Khunjerab Pass

Today is the long drive north to the border. On the way we stop at the Passu Cones, the Batura Glacier and the Hussaini suspension bridge, then carry on through Sost to the Khunjerab Pass (4,693 m), the Pakistan-China border. The national park ticket is included. Keep the stop at the top short if the altitude bothers you. We drive back to Nagar for dinner and the last night in the valley.

Day 5

Nagar back to Naran or Kaghan

We leave early after breakfast and drive back down the Karakoram Highway to Chilas and over Babusar Top into the Kaghan Valley. We check in to a hotel in Naran or Kaghan, depending on the time we arrive, for dinner and the night.

Day 6

Naran to Lahore

After breakfast we drive down the valley, stopping at Kiwai Waterfall and Balakot. Islamabad guests get off on the way. We stop for dinner on the motorway and reach Lahore late at night.

It was an amazing tour with Pakistan Travel Diaries. 5 Days Hunza tour was like a dream, I can not believe how the time flew over there, these 5 days were the best days. Every thing was properly managed, time, food, accommodation, traveling. The CEO Abuzar is not less than a Super Hero, the way he managed every thing was so smooth. He is like Jinny, call his name and he is in front of you asking "what can I do for you". It was a memorable tour. โฃ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‡

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the tour leave from in Lahore?

The coaster leaves at 11 pm from Thokar Niaz Baig or Barkat Market. We confirm the exact pickup point and the departure date when you book. The coaster leaves Lahore at 11 pm, and about 3 am from Islamabad. Departures run through the season. WhatsApp us for the next departure.

Can I join from Islamabad?

Yes. Islamabad guests are picked up on the motorway route around 3 am on the first night, and dropped off on the way back on day six. There is no extra charge for joining in Islamabad. The pickup point is near the motorway or GT Road so the coaster stays on its route, and we share the exact spot with booked guests before departure.

How much is the Hunza luxury tour for 6 days?

PKR 38,000 per person in a room shared by 3 to 4 people. Children aged 3 to 9 pay PKR 26,500 and children under 3 travel free. A couple who want a room to themselves pay PKR 88,500 in total.

Is the Khunjerab Pass included?

Yes. Day four goes to the Khunjerab Pass (4,693 m) and the national park ticket is included. The pass is normally closed to traffic from December to March.

Which hotels will we stay in?

We book luxury category hotels in Naran, Nagar and Naran or Kaghan based on availability for your dates, and confirm the names a few days before departure.

Show 6 more questions
Are the jeep to Saif-ul-Malook and the boat on Attabad included?

No. Both are optional and not in the price. Fort tickets at Altit and Baltit are also not included.

What should I pack?

Warm clothes and a jacket, even in July, because Babusar Top and Khunjerab are cold and windy. Bring comfortable shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, any medicines you take and cash, since cash is easier than cards outside Karimabad and Aliabad.

What is the cancellation policy?

A 30% advance confirms your seat. Cancel more than 7 days before departure and we refund 75% of what you paid; 5 to 7 days before, we refund 50%. Cancellations in the last 4 days, and no-shows, are not refunded.

Where do we stay and what do we eat on the Hunza Luxury Tour 6 Days 5 Nights?

Night one is in Naran. Nights two, three and four are in the same hotel in Nagar, near the Rakaposhi viewpoint, so you unpack once and do Karimabad, Attabad and Khunjerab as day trips. Night five is in Naran or Kaghan on the way home. Breakfast is paratha, egg, milk tea and channay or aloo bhujia. Dinner rotates between chicken karahi, chicken qorma, chicken pulao, daal and a vegetable dish, served with fresh chapati and a cold drink. One night is a BBQ (chicken leg or chest piece) with a bonfire and music.

When is the best time to go on the Hunza Luxury Tour 6 Days 5 Nights?

This route crosses Babusar Top between Naran and Chilas, and that road is usually open from mid-June to late September or early October, depending on snow. That is the main window for these tours. In some years Babusar stays shut until July, and when it is closed the road to Hunza goes along the Karakoram Highway through Besham instead. That way is longer, so we tell you the changed plan before you pay the advance. The Khunjerab Pass has always closed to traffic from December to March. A year-round opening for trade was announced in late 2024, but trips to the top in winter still depend on snow. In summer the pass is open and the national park ticket is part of the price.

What is the difference between the standard and luxury Hunza Tour 6 Days 5 Nights?

We run this same 6-day route as a standard tour too. Both go in a Toyota Coaster on the same days with the same stops. The luxury tour costs PKR 6,000 more per person, and for that you get a higher hotel category each night, the quality buffet menu and a first aid kit on board. If you have less time, our 5-day luxury tour skips Gilgit city and Altit Fort and spends two nights in Hunza instead of three in Nagar.
