Hunza Gilgit Honeymoon Package, 11 Days from Lahore

Tour Overview

Our Hunza Gilgit honeymoon package is an 11-day private trip for couples who want time in Gilgit-Baltistan without rushing the road. You travel from Lahore in your own car with a driver, and three of the ten nights are in Nagar, near Rakaposhi, as your base for Hunza and the Khunjerab Pass.

The road north is split into short stages. The first night is in Balakot, the second in Naran after a jeep ride to Lake Saif-ul-Malook, and the third at Batakundi after a morning at the Lalazar meadows. On day four you cross Babusar Top, stop at the Nanga Parbat viewpoint and the meeting point of the Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush, and pass through Gilgit city on the way to Nagar.

In Hunza you get one day for Karimabad, Altit Fort and Attabad Lake, and one for the Karakoram Highway north to Passu, Hussaini Bridge and the Khunjerab Pass at 4,693 m on the Chinese border. The way home is slower than the way up: a night in Naran, two nights in Shogran with a jeep to Siri Paye, and a last night in Islamabad before the drive to Lahore.

It costs PKR 155,000 per person, or PKR 310,000 for the couple, with the car and driver for all 11 days, ten nights in A-category hotels, the Siri Paye jeep and tolls.

Hunza Gilgit honeymoon package itinerary

Times are a guide and can shift with the road and the weather.

Day 1

Lahore to Balakot

Your driver collects you in Lahore and takes the M-2 to Islamabad. If you live in Islamabad or Rawalpindi, or fly in from Karachi, we pick you up there instead. From Islamabad the Hazara Motorway runs through the Abbottabad tunnels towards Mansehra, and we reach Balakot on the Kunhar River in the evening. Dinner and night in Balakot.

Day 2

Balakot to Naran and Lake Saif-ul-Malook

After breakfast we follow the Kunhar River up the valley to Naran. Check in and rest for a while, then switch to a local jeep for the half-hour ride up to Lake Saif-ul-Malook. After time at the lake the jeep brings you back to Naran for dinner, at the hotel or in the bazaar, and an evening walk. Night in Naran.

Day 3

Lalazar meadows

After breakfast a jeep takes you from Naran up the track to Lalazar, a high meadow above the valley. Spend the morning walking and taking photos, then the jeep brings you down to Batakundi, a little further up the valley from Naran. Dinner and night in Batakundi.

Day 4

Over Babusar Top to Gilgit and Nagar

After breakfast in Batakundi we drive past Lulusar Lake to Babusar Top (4,173 m) and down to Chilas on the Karakoram Highway. We stop at the meeting point of the Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush ranges and at the Nanga Parbat viewpoint, then drive through Gilgit city and on to Nagar, near Rakaposhi. It is a long day, so we check in for dinner and an early night.

Day 5

Karimabad, Altit Fort and Attabad Lake

After breakfast we drive up to Karimabad, the main town of Hunza. Visit Altit Fort, around 1,000 years old, and the shops of Karimabad Bazaar. Further up the Karakoram Highway we go through the Pakistan China Friendship Tunnels to Attabad Lake, where you can take a boat out on the water. In the evening we drive back to Nagar for dinner and the night.

Day 6

Passu and the Khunjerab Pass

A full day on the Karakoram Highway north to the Chinese border. We stop at the Passu Cones, the Batura Glacier and the Hussaini suspension bridge, pass through Sost and climb to the Khunjerab Pass at 4,693 m. Carry a warm layer for the top. We come back to the hotel in Nagar for dinner and the night.

Day 7

Nagar to Naran

We leave early after breakfast for the long drive back down the Karakoram Highway and over Babusar Top into the Kaghan Valley, and check in at the hotel in Naran or Kaghan in the evening. Dinner and night there.

Day 8

Naran to Shogran

After breakfast we drive down the valley to Kiwai and up the hairpin road to Shogran, arriving at about 12 pm. After check-in and a rest, walk through the forest around the Governor House. In the evening have dinner and look around the small bazaar. Night in Shogran.

Day 9

Siri Paye by jeep

After breakfast a jeep climbs about an hour from Shogran to the Siri Paye meadows, where there is a small lake and, on a clear day, a view of Makra Peak and Malika Parbat. There are no hotels at the top, so you come back to Shogran in the afternoon. A second night in Shogran.

Day 10

Shogran to Islamabad

After breakfast we drive down to Balakot, stop for a while by the Kunhar River and carry on to Islamabad or Rawalpindi, about five hours from Shogran. You have the evening free in the city. Night in Islamabad or Rawalpindi.

Day 11

Islamabad to Lahore

After breakfast we drive home to Lahore on the M-2, about four and a half hours. If you are flying back to Karachi or another city, the driver drops you in Islamabad instead.

It was an amazing tour with Pakistan Travel Diaries. 5 Days Hunza tour was like a dream, I can not believe how the time flew over there, these 5 days were the best days. Every thing was properly managed, time, food, accommodation, traveling. The CEO Abuzar is not less than a Super Hero, the way he managed every thing was so smooth. He is like Jinny, call his name and he is in front of you asking "what can I do for you". It was a memorable tour. โฃ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‡

Frequently Asked Questions

Where and when does the Hunza Gilgit Honeymoon Package leave?

Pickup is from your home in Lahore, or Islamabad / Rawalpindi.

Is this a private trip?

Yes. You travel in your own car with a driver for all 11 days, and the hotel room is for the two of you. Nobody else joins.

How much does this 11-day honeymoon cost?

PKR 155,000 per person, or PKR 310,000 for a couple. That covers the car and driver, ten hotel nights, the Siri Paye jeep and tolls.

We live in Karachi. Can we join in Islamabad?

Yes. Fly to Islamabad and the driver meets you there on day one. At the end he can drop you in Islamabad for your flight home instead of driving on to Lahore. Private tours can start from any city in Pakistan: tell us where you are when you book and we will plan the pickup from there.

What is not included?

Meals, the jeeps to Saif-ul-Malook and Lalazar, the Attabad Lake boat ride, and the Khunjerab and Altit Fort tickets are not in the price, so budget for them separately. The Siri Paye jeep is included.

Show 5 more questions
Can we fly to Gilgit instead of driving?

This package is by road, because the route goes through Naran and Shogran. PIA flies from Islamabad to Gilgit, but flights are often cancelled in bad weather. Ask us for a separate quote if you want to fly one way.

Does mobile data work in Hunza?

It works in the towns but drops out on parts of the Karakoram Highway. Cards are hard to use outside Karimabad and Aliabad, so carry cash.

What is the cancellation policy?

A 30% advance confirms your booking. Cancel more than 7 days before departure and we refund 75% of what you paid; 5 to 7 days before, we refund 50%. Cancellations in the last 4 days, and no-shows, are not refunded.

Is there a shorter, longer or different option than the Hunza Gilgit Honeymoon Package?

Most Hunza honeymoon packages run five to eight days, and two of those days are spent driving each way. This one splits the drive north into shorter stages and adds two nights in Shogran and one in Islamabad at the end, so the long road days are broken up with easy ones. If you have less time, our 8-day Hunza honeymoon package covers the same sights in Hunza. Our Naran, Shogran and Hunza honeymoon tour, also 11 days, visits the same valleys but is planned around the Kaghan Valley side of the trip. Look at both and send us your dates on WhatsApp, and we will tell you which one fits.

When is the best time to go on the Hunza Gilgit Honeymoon Package?

This route crosses Babusar Top twice, so we run it while the pass is open, usually from mid-June to late September. Before mid-June there can still be snow on the road, and from October the Naran hotels start to close. June and September are quieter than July and August, when the Kaghan Valley is at its busiest. When Babusar is shut, Hunza can still be reached on the Karakoram Highway through Besham. That is a longer drive and a different trip, so ask us for a separate quote.
