I travel with Pakistan Travel Diaries on 12th March to Kashmir. I was amazed with the services in Neelum Valley Tour Package that I opted for. Wonderful and satisfactory service π₯

Our Ratti Gali Lake tour, 4 days 3 nights from Lahore, is a group trip to the upper Neelum Valley with a full extra day in Baboon Valley. Most Ratti Gali trips head home after the lake. This one spends a second night in Kutton so you can take a jeep up to the Baboon meadows the next morning.
We leave Lahore at 11 pm in an air-conditioned Toyota Coaster and pick up Islamabad guests on the way. After a break at Kohala Bridge, where we cross into Azad Kashmir, we have breakfast at Pattika and drive up the Neelum River past Dhani Waterfall to Keran. Keran sits on the Line of Control, and the two sides of Kashmir are only the width of the river apart.
On day two we drive to Dowarian and change to jeeps. The track to the Ratti Gali base camp takes about two hours, and from there it is roughly an hour on foot to the lake, which is at about 3,700 m. That night is in Kutton, with a BBQ and a bonfire. Day three is the Baboon Valley jeep trip, and on day four we stop at Kutton Waterfall on the way out and reach Lahore around 11:30 pm.
Three nights in hotels (one in Keran, two in Kutton), breakfast and dinner as per the itinerary, both jeep trips, tolls and a tour guide are included. Rooms are shared by 3 to 4 people, and couples can book a private room.

We leave Lahore at 11 pm from Thokar Niaz Baig or Barkat Market, with a short stop at Bhera on the motorway. Islamabad guests join on the way. After a break at Kohala Bridge we have breakfast at Pattika and carry on up the Neelum Valley, stopping at Dhani Waterfall. We check in to the hotel in Keran, and after some rest there is time to look around the village, where the river marks the Line of Control. Dinner and the night are in Keran.
Breakfast is at 8 am. We drive to Dowarian and switch to jeeps for the ride to the Ratti Gali base camp, about two hours on a rough track. From the base camp it is roughly an hour on foot to the lake. After time at the water we walk back down to the jeeps and return to Dowarian, then drive to Kutton for a BBQ dinner, a bonfire and the night.
After an early breakfast we take jeeps from Kutton up to Baboon Valley, a stretch of open green meadows above the Jagran side of the valley. There is no paved road, so the jeeps go slowly on a rough track. Once we are up there you have time to walk around the meadows and take photos. The jeeps then bring us back to Kutton for dinner and a second night at the hotel.
After breakfast we stop at Kutton Waterfall, then take a short break at the Neelum-Jhelum hydropower project on the way down. We drive back through Muzaffarabad and reach Islamabad around 6 pm, where Islamabad guests get off. We arrive in Lahore around 11:30 pm.

The coaster leaves Lahore at 11 pm from Thokar Niaz Baig or Barkat Market, and Islamabad guests are picked up on the way. You are back in Lahore around 11:30 pm on day 4. There is no extra charge for joining in Islamabad. The pickup point is near the motorway or GT Road so the coaster stays on its route, and we share the exact spot with booked guests before departure.
From July to September, when the jeep track to Ratti Gali Lake is usually clear of snow. Departures run through the season and leave Lahore at 11 pm. WhatsApp us for the next date.
The jeep from Dowarian to the base camp takes about two hours. From there it is roughly an hour on foot to the lake, uphill and at about 3,700 m. Anyone who can walk uphill for an hour at a slow pace can manage it.

The first night is in Keran and the next two are in Kutton. We book hotels based on availability for your dates and confirm the names a few days before departure. Rooms are shared by 3 to 4 people.
Pakistani citizens only need their CNIC. Foreign passport holders need permission for some areas near the Line of Control, and parts of the Neelum Valley, including Keran, are right on it. Tell us your nationality when you book and we will check what is possible for your dates.
Warm clothes even in summer, because nights in the upper Neelum Valley are cold. Bring walking shoes with a good grip, a cap, sunscreen and any medicines you take. Carry cash, since there are few ATMs, and a power bank, because mobile coverage is patchy after Athmuqam.
A 30% advance confirms your seat. Cancel more than 7 days before departure and we refund 75% of what you paid; 5 to 7 days before, we refund 50%. Cancellations in the last 4 days, and no-shows, are not refunded.
Baboon Valley is a set of high meadows above Kutton, reached only by jeep. Few group tours go there, and it is the reason this trip is four days instead of three. The Baboon jeep is part of the price, so the extra day has no jeep fare to pay on the spot. It is also a quieter day than the lake: no long walk, just the jeep ride up and time on the grass. That gives your legs a rest after Ratti Gali before the drive home.
Short on time? Our 3-day Ratti Gali Lake tour follows the same route without the Baboon Valley day. If you would rather see Arang Kel than Baboon, the 4-day Ratti Gali Arang Kel tour swaps the meadows for the cable car at Kel.
