Murree Tour Packages 2026 from Lahore and Islamabad

2 days from Lahore: group tour or private car

Our Murree tour packages are private trips by car and driver from Lahore, Islamabad or any city in Pakistan, planned around your dates and group size. Our 2 days Murree tour from Lahore runs as a group tour by coaster for PKR 12,500 per person, or as a private Toyota Corolla trip for PKR 80,000 for a couple. Longer or custom trips are quoted to your dates on WhatsApp. Most families take two or three days: Mall Road and the Patriata chairlift, then Ayubia and a night in Nathia Gali.

Murree suits families with small children, older parents and couples who want a short break without long mountain drives. It sits at about 2,290 metres on a pine ridge 60 km from Islamabad and 5 to 6 hours from Lahore, so a weekend is enough.

Things to do in Murree

  • ◆Walk Mall Road in the evening, from GPO Chowk to Kashmir Point
  • ◆Ride the Patriata chairlift and cable car early in the morning
  • ◆Take the chairlift down from Pindi Point
  • ◆Walk the flat Pipeline Track from Dunga Gali to Ayubia
  • ◆Hike from Dunga Gali to Mushkpuri Top
  • ◆Spend a quiet night in Bhurban or Nathia Gali instead of the town centre
  • ◆Eat roasted corn and karahi at the Mall Road stalls

Places to visit in Murree

The places to visit in Murree are spread along one ridge and the roads leading off it, so plan one area per morning or afternoon. On summer weekends and snow days, add an hour or more for traffic and queues.

Evening crowds and shops on Mall Road in Murree

Mall Road, GPO Chowk and Holy Trinity Church

Mall Road is the pedestrian street along the top of the ridge, lined with shawl and dried fruit shops, tea stalls and family restaurants, and busy until late in season. You park below and walk up. The General Post Office dates from 1867 and Holy Trinity Church from the 1850s; give the area two or three hours from late afternoon.

Pine ridges and snow peaks of Kashmir seen from Murree

Kashmir Point and Pindi Point

These two viewpoints mark the ends of the ridge, linked by an easy walk of 2 to 3 km. Kashmir Point, about 15 minutes from Mall Road, looks toward the Kashmir hills on clear mornings in September and October. Pindi Point faces Rawalpindi and has a chairlift down toward Bansra Gali that children enjoy; allow one to two hours for both.

Chairlift and cable car cabins above the pine forest at Patriata

Patriata (New Murree) chairlift and cable car

Patriata is about 15 km south-east of Mall Road, a 30 to 40 minute drive. A chairlift and then a cable car carry you up through pine forest to the hilltop, with very little walking, so it suits small children and older relatives. Go early, because by late morning on weekends the ticket queue can take longer than the ride; half a day is enough.

Lawns and gardens on a hilltop at Bhurban with the Murree hills behind

Bhurban

Bhurban is a forest resort area about 10 km from Murree, around 20 minutes by car, with pine woods, a golf course and a few hotels with valley views. There is no bazaar and almost no street noise. Couples often stay here and drive into Murree for an evening on Mall Road.

Leaf covered Pipeline Track with its railing through the Ayubia forest

Ayubia National Park and the Pipeline Track

Ayubia is a protected pine and oak forest on the road to Nathia Gali, with its own chairlift. The Pipeline Track runs about 4 km, almost flat, from Ayubia to Dunga Gali and takes one and a half to two hours one way, which suits children and older walkers. Monkeys live along the track, so keep food in a closed bag, and skip it in winter when the path is icy.

Miranjani peak seen through fir trees from Nathia Gali

Nathia Gali, Mushkpuri and Miranjani

Nathia Gali is about 35 km past Murree, roughly an hour away, and sits higher at about 2,500 m, so it is cooler, greener and much quieter. Mushkpuri Top, at about 2,800 m, is a climb of about 4 km from Dunga Gali that takes most people two to three hours up. Miranjani, close to 3,000 m, starts from Nathia Gali and needs a full morning in clear weather.

How we quote a Murree tour package

Every Murree trip runs as a private trip with your own car and driver, priced for the group that is going. The cost depends mostly on the car, the number of rooms and the area you sleep in. To quote, we need five things from you.

  • Your dates, and whether they fall on a weekend, Eid or a snow week
  • Where you start: Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi or another city
  • How many adults and children, with the children's ages
  • How many nights, and if you want Murree only or Nathia Gali too
  • The hotel level you want: simple and clean, mid-range, or the best available

Murree tour package price: what changes it

Weekend and holiday hotel rates in Murree can be far higher than weekday rates, and snow weekends cost the most. A trip from Lahore costs more than one from Islamabad because of the extra 5 to 6 hours of driving each way. Rooms on Mall Road, at Kashmir Point, in Bhurban and in Nathia Gali are priced very differently. We send the quote in writing, with what is included, before you pay anything.

Murree trips from Lahore, Islamabad and other cities

You choose when you leave, how long you stop and where you sleep.

Murree tour package from Lahore

From Lahore we leave early in the morning and reach Murree by early afternoon, with time for Mall Road in the evening. Two nights is the sensible minimum, and three nights lets you add the Galiyat.

Murree tour from Islamabad

From Islamabad or Rawalpindi we pick you up at your home or hotel. Murree is only an hour and a half away, so even a day trip works, though one or two nights gives a much calmer trip. Our Islamabad travel guide has ideas for a day in the city before or after.

From Karachi and other cities

Most Karachi families fly or take the train to Islamabad and start the trip from the airport or station there. For bigger family or office groups, tell us the head count and we will quote a larger vehicle.

Want a seat on a group coaster instead?

Our scheduled group tours leave Lahore at 11 pm by Toyota Coaster from Thokar Niaz Baig or Barkat Market, with an Islamabad pickup on the way at no extra charge. They go to Naran and Kaghan, Swat, Hunza and the Neelum Valley rather than Murree. For a cool weekend at a fixed group price, the 3-day Naran Kaghan tour is the closest match.

Murree family and honeymoon trips

Murree family tour packages

Murree is the easiest hill trip in Pakistan for families: short drives, chairlifts instead of hikes, and plenty of food. On our tours children aged 3 to 9 pay the child price and children under 3 travel free. Tell us how many beds you need and if you would like connecting rooms. With toddlers or elderly parents, we keep each drive short and avoid snow weekends.

Murree honeymoon packages

For couples we plan a private car and driver, a room picked for couples and an easy pace, usually two nights in Bhurban or Nathia Gali with an evening on Mall Road. Weekdays are much better than weekends. As with all our honeymoon tours, meals are not included, so you can eat where you like. See our honeymoon packages for longer trips to Naran, Hunza and Swat.

Murree and Nathia Gali tour package: where to stay

Where you sleep changes the trip more than which hotel you choose. Hotel names are confirmed in your quote and before departure, subject to availability, and we pick rooms with parking whenever we can. Good rooms go weeks ahead in July, August, December and January.

Best time to visit Murree

May to October is the best time to visit Murree for walks and views, and December to February is the time for snow. June to August is the busiest stretch, because schools are closed and the plains are at their hottest. September and October usually bring the clearest skies and the fewest crowds.

Murree weather in summer and winter

Summer days are mostly in the low to mid 20s °C while Lahore and Islamabad sit near 40°C, and even July evenings need a light jacket. The monsoon runs through July and August: mornings are often clear, then fog and heavy showers roll in after lunch. Winter nights drop below freezing, and snow sometimes comes in late November or early March as well.

Murree tours in the snow season

Snow brings the biggest crowds of the year, and the road can jam for hours. In January 2022 more than 20 people died in cars stuck in a snowstorm near Murree, and we plan winter trips with that in mind. We travel in daylight, prefer weekdays, check the forecast and traffic police updates before leaving, and book the hotel in advance so you are never waiting on the hill for a room. Roads can close in heavy snow, and the trip follows the advice of the authorities.

How to reach Murree from Lahore and Islamabad

Murree is about 60 km from Islamabad on the Murree Expressway. From Lahore it is about 350 km by GT Road through Rawalpindi, or about 430 km by the faster M-2 motorway to Islamabad first; both take 5 to 6 hours. There is no airport or railway in Murree, so Karachi travellers fly or take the train to Islamabad or Rawalpindi. The road past Murree goes down to Kohala Bridge and into Azad Kashmir, which is why Murree is often the first night on a road trip to the Neelum Valley.

Travel tips for Murree: signal, cash, packing and safety

All the main mobile networks work in Murree town and at Patriata, but signal is patchy on parts of the Galiyat road and the trails, so download offline maps. Mall Road has bank ATMs that can run dry on holiday weekends, and smaller places in Ayubia and Nathia Gali may only take cash.

Murree is generally safe for families and women travelling together. The main risks are road accidents, the crowds on peak days and winter weather. Keep your CNIC with you for police checks, and watch children near the edge of the viewpoints. If you travel on toward Kashmir, see our Azad Kashmir travel guide.

  • A warm layer for the evenings, even in June
  • A rain jacket or umbrella from July to September
  • Shoes with good grip for steep lanes, and boots in the snow months
  • Gloves, a cap and thermals from December to February
  • Some cash for chairlifts, stalls and parking, and a power bank

The best places to visit in Murree are Mall Road, Kashmir Point and Pindi Point on the main ridge, the Patriata chairlift and cable car about 15 km away, and Bhurban for a quiet forest stay. With an extra day, drive on to Ayubia for the Pipeline Track and to Nathia Gali for the Mushkpuri hike.

Show 11 more questions

How many days do you need for Murree?

From Islamabad one day is enough for Patriata, Pindi Point and Mall Road. From Lahore plan at least two days and one night, because the drive is 5 to 6 hours each way. Three days lets you add Ayubia, the Pipeline Track and a night in Nathia Gali.

Can I start the Murree tour from Islamabad?

Yes. Murree is about 60 km and an hour and a half from Islamabad, and we pick you up from your home or hotel in Islamabad or Rawalpindi. On summer weekends and snow days the drive can take 3 to 4 hours. Starting here is the shortest way to do Murree and makes a day trip possible.

How long is the drive from Lahore to Murree?

The drive from Lahore to Murree takes 5 to 6 hours in normal traffic, about 430 km by the M-2 motorway and the Murree Expressway, or about 350 km by GT Road. On summer weekends and snow days the last stretch from Islamabad can add 2 to 3 hours, so we leave early.

How high is Murree?

Murree is at about 2,290 metres (around 7,500 feet) on Mall Road, and Kashmir Point is a little higher. Nathia Gali, an hour further along the Galiyat road, is at about 2,500 metres, and Mushkpuri Top above Dunga Gali is about 2,800 metres.

What is the difference between Murree and Patriata (New Murree)?

Murree is the old hill town with Mall Road, the hotels and the bazaar. Patriata, also called New Murree, is a separate hilltop about 15 km south-east, 30 to 40 minutes by car, known for its chairlift and cable car. Most people stay in Murree and visit Patriata for half a day.

Murree or Nathia Gali: which is better for families?

Murree is better for families with small children, because the chairlifts, food and shops are close together and little walking is needed. Nathia Gali, about an hour further, is cooler and quieter and suits families who like walks such as the Pipeline Track. On a 3-day trip we often do one night in each.

Are the Patriata and Ayubia chairlift tickets included?

No. Chairlift and cable car tickets at Patriata, Pindi Point and Ayubia are bought at the counter on the day, and prices change from season to season. Your driver takes you to each one and waits. If you want the tickets arranged in advance, ask us and we will add them to the quote.

Do you have Murree honeymoon packages, and are meals included?

Yes. Murree honeymoon trips use a private car and driver, with rooms picked for couples, usually in Bhurban or Nathia Gali. As on all our honeymoon tours, meals are not included, so you are free to eat where you like. Weekdays are calmer and better value than weekends.

Which hotels do you use in Murree?

We do not publish hotel names, because the hotel depends on your dates, budget and availability. Your quote names the area and the hotel level, and the hotel is confirmed before departure. Where possible we choose places with their own parking, which saves a lot of time in Murree.

Do children pay full price on a Murree trip?

No. On our tours children aged 3 to 9 pay the child price and children under 3 travel free. On a private Murree trip the cost is mostly the car and rooms, so tell us the ages and number of children and we will quote the beds you need.

How much advance do I pay, and what is the cancellation policy?

You pay 30% in advance to confirm and the rest at departure. Cancel more than 7 days before departure and we refund 75%. Between 5 and 7 days the refund is 50%. In the last 4 days, and for no-shows, there is no refund.
